Melbourne Street

Leeds

Den Architecture has received planning approval on a residential development on Melbourne Street in Leeds City Centre.

The application comprises of 100 apartments of varying sizes. The development is split into three blocks on varying levels as the building cascades down the site. These have a shared aesthetic, with the two end blocks reading slightly differently, acting as “bookends”. Red brickwork sits in-front of dark grey cladding and large aluminum framed windows creating a contemporary aesthetic with strong reference to the materiality of Leeds.

The area is undergoing significant change with a number of recently completed and ongoing residential developments, with Den Architecture’s proposal acting as an excellent precedents for the future development of the area. The wider area has also seen a number of new shops, bars and restaurants and is now identified as the Northern Quarter in recognition of its regeneration, emerging distinct character and increased vibrancy.
