Looking back on 2023 at Den Architecture

As we embark on the New Year, we are looking back on 2023. Join us as we reflect on a year full of victories, challenges, and everything else in between.

We hit major milestones on some big projects…

Hollis Croft

Planning Approval

We received planning approval for Hollis Croft, a 234-unit residential development in Sheffield, which is looking to get started on site in February.

Jubilee Hotel

Progressing on Site

Jubilee Hotel, our extension to a Listed Building in the heart of Leeds has made great progress this year, with the concrete frame now up to 4 storeys.

Phoenix

Progressing On Site

Our biggest residential project in Leeds, Phoenix, has risen over 20 storeys this year, with both buildings aiming to be completed by the 3rd Quarter of the year.

We conquered the Yorkshire 3 Peaks…

The Yorkshire 3 Peaks was one of the year’s biggest challenges - 24 miles of gruelling hills, changeable weather, bad jokes, sore feet, and a very well-deserved pint to finish it off.

We did the walk in aid of Prostate Cancer UK in June, and raised £1,735 in the process! It was a brilliant day, and all for a great cause. Maybe we'll do it again next year..

We also lost someone close to us…

With heavy hearts, we also said farewell to a valued member of the Den Architecture family, Mark Stephenson.

Mark dedicated 8 years of his career to shaping our projects with creativity and expertise, and became a vital member of the team, running numerous jobs on site.

Beyond the professional realm, Mark was known for his adventurous nature, sense of humour and love of music. He was not just a colleague but a cherished member of our close-knit team.

He was a huge part of our 3 Peaks challenge, not only by arranging the day but also by encouraging the team to take part, having completed it 14 times previously.

In celebrating Mark's legacy, we remember him with deep respect and fondness.

And had a few more triumphs…

Val d’Or, Leeds - Planning Approval

After a lengthy planning process we finally received planning approval for Val d’Or, a high end residential development near Shadwell in Leeds.

The project, designed in a contemporary art deco style, took reference from the existing building on site, Val d’Or, an iconic Leeds art deco dwelling.

The project aims to start on site in this year, and we can’t wait to see how it progresses.

Barmby Moor Care Village - Progressing On Site

Lavender Fields Care Village has been making excellent progress on site this year. The project is for a new care village development near York comprising a 72 bed Care Home, 24 Care Bungalows and an Administrative Centre.

The bungalows are now completed and the care home is progressing rapidly, with the Care Village looking to be completed  later in the year.

Fleet Lane, Leeds - Planning Submission

Next up is Fleet Lane, an incredibly exciting project that is currently in planning for an eco-friendly leisure facility aiming to regenerate a brownfield site in Oulton, Leeds.

The proposed venue includes lodges, a wedding and conference facility, and a community café - all located within beautiful landscaped surroundings alongside the River Aire.

The 40 Eco-lodges will act as accommodation for up to 120 guests, all served by the main Wedding Venue.

Alderman House, Leeds - Completed On Site

Regent Street, Leeds - In Planning

Lucent Square, Leeds - On Site
